CAMERA I purchased my very first Digital SLR, a Canon Digital Rebel XT, in January of 2006 after being a very happy owner of one of the very first Canon Rebel 35mm cameras for over 16 years (I purchased my 35mm Rebel about 2 months after it was released on the market)! I have been wanting a digital SLR for several years after borrowing a family members Canon Digital Rebel (300D) at a wedding.
My digital camera photo tool box now includes the following items that I take everywhere with me, for that hopeful "once in a lifetime" shot!
- Canon Digital Rebel XT ( 8.0 Megapixel - SLR )
- Canon 18-55mm Telephoto Zoom Lens ( 35mm equiv. 28.8-88mm )
- Canon 75-300mm Telephoto Zoom Lens ( 35mm equiv. 120-480mm )
- Rokunar 2x Tele-Converter Lens
- SanDisk Ultra II 1Gb Compact Flash Memory ( This holds almost 260 Large/Fine JPEG photos )
- Promatic FTD5600 Wide-Telephoto Flash
- Bogen Manfrotto Tripod with Bogen 3030 Manfrotto Head

ABOUT ME I have always been fascinated by photography as I have always loved art and drawing. I began my real photo career when I joined Exploring ( a division of the Boy Scouts of America ) by becoming a member of a unit (aka Post) that specialized in Photography/Cinematography. I purchased my very first SLR camera while in the post which was a Canon Rebel and started taking photos everywhere I went. Where ever my travels took me, my camera was there as well! From Maine and Canada to Florida, from St. Louis to Hawaii...my camera has been there with me.
I have been wanting a digital SLR for several years as the technology got better, but the price was always just out of reach. I purchased my first digital camera, a Canon S100 point and shoot and took it everywhere with me, but it was not the same as an SLR. I used it until I actually wore the motors out in it! I then purchased an HP M22 digital point and shoot camera to replace the Canon so I could have a camera that we could easily take with us. Both of these were/are nice cameras, but they just don't have the same qualities as an SLR camera with lenses.
I am a graphic designer and a ColdFusion web programmer in the St. Louis area where I live with my wife of 6 years. We purchased a 120+ year old home and have been slowly restoring the home. We also have a 3 year old Bloodhound/Chesapeake Bay Retriever K-9 named Susie who we have trained to do Trailing for Search and Rescue work, for the team that I am the Ground Team Director for. We are expecting our first child in January of 2007!
